City of Lewisville

Lewisville, Texas

Though the historic fabric of downtown Lewisville was almost non-existent, the city government relocated the City Courthouse back to Old Town in an effort to revive the area and bring back traffic. Negotiations with the State gave jurisdiction back to the City, allowing them the opportunity to control the image and development of Main Street.

The design challenge was to set the character of the downtown zone. Images from Lewisville’s agricultural past and the iconic form of the new Courthouse became the predominant design vocabulary for the signage. To define the Old Town boundaries, gateways are planned at vehicular entries and the proposed Dallas Area Rapid Transit Rail Station for downtown Lewisville.
